Over 2 billion people drink tea every morning, making it the most consumed beverage throughout the world. However, most of us take a sip of hot tea to feel good; we don’t know the hidden benefits of tea.
The foremost of those benefits is that green tea is the most effective anti-cancer.
Yes, the attractive and pleasing smell from green tea in a mug oozing lovely vapor can be the most beautiful thing. But beyond the smell and excellent flavor, green tea offers us so many health benefits. No wonder some thoughtful experts call it "nature’s defense against cancer."
You might want to doubt, but do you know that green tea can inhibit the growth of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)? We find EGFR in the development of any cancerous cell. Therefore, green tea has proven to suppress and choke cancer cells.
Be rest assured that I will avoid medical/botanical jargon in this short article; so everyone can understand and flow. You can save thousands of lives with this piece of information. Do you want to know more? Read on!
What is Green Tea, and What Differentiate it?
We get the green tea from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant. It is heated and dried to prevent over-oxidation. The typical green tea color is not deep green as expected, but rather a light and attractive green color that is beautiful enough to magnetize anyone.
The difference between green tea and other variants is FERMENTATION. While teas like black tea are completely fermented, the green tea undergoes no fermentation process.
Recently, people and experts had started to see that there is more to this sweet tea than meets the eye. And as such, it has generated much popularity and consumption. At present, 86% of Americans drink green tea.
Well, I guess the reason you’re reading this is that you also drink it or you want to start to; hence, it is settled that green tea gains wider consumption.
How Green Tea Prevents and Cures Various Types of Cancer
Before further discourse, we should first clarify that although green tea may not cure a chronic cancer level immediately, it can with time. Medical and botanical professionals had also agreed that green tea could prevent or suppress cancerous cells. Moreover, if the cancer stage is not advanced yet, it can cure it.
Here are the various types of cancer and how green tea can cure or prevent them:
1. Green Tea and Oral Cancer
Professor Joshua Lambart, the Co-director of Pennsylvania State University’s Center for Plants and Mushroom Food for health, researched how green tea disintegrates cancerous cells. Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate(EGCG), which is abundantly present in green tea, damages cancerous cells' mitochondria and ultimately kills them.
This is how it works: EGCG releases the free radicals that can weaken a cancer cell because of oxidative stress. In their laboratory research, the team cultured oral cells and healthy cells in a petri-dish, and later exposing them to epigallocatechin-3-Gallate(EGCG).
They discovered that the protein surtin 3 in EGCG fights against the surtin 3 in cancer cells, thereby damaging the cancerous cells' mitochondrian function. Hence, in their published report, Professor Joshua Lambart and other experts confirmed that Green tea could cure and prevent oral cancer.
2. Green Tea and Skin Cancer
Like we will later discuss under cervical cancer, green tea extracts work faster and better when applied directly to the cancerous cells. The extracts remove the tumors every day, or in some rare cases, remove them altogether.
Moreover, according to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common cancer. Therefore, several skin-care companies had started to add green tea to moisturizers, lotions, and creams.
3. Green Tea and Colon Cancer
While green tea might not have a noticeable effect on advanced cancer or tumor, experiments had confirmed that it could stop colon cancer or tumor in their infancy.
Early this year, medical doctors at the Seoul National University Hospital—South Korea—said that the green tea is not only effective in preventing colon cancer but even lowering the risk of its recurrence.
4. Green Tea and Prostate Cancer
In the study to assess the effect of Polyphenols E pills, Dr. Jerry McLarty and some medical colleagues treated some prostate cancer patients with daily doses of polyphenols; and they experienced significant changes.
Polyphenol is the natural antioxidant in green tea, which researchers had even confirmed to be a potential cancer therapy. And as a result, green tea has proven to be the most effective anticancer as it reduces prostate cancer by 80%.
5. Green Tea and Cervical Cancer
The EGCG is a powerful antioxidant that can reduce and cure cell growth in cervical cancer cell growth. However, as some experts submitted in the European Journal of Cancer Prevention, patients will have a 70% response rate if they apply the EGCG extract—of the green tea—on their cervix directly.
Those who drink tea have a 10% response rate. Therefore, it is beyond drinking the tea in treating cervical cancer; applying the EGCG extract does wonder. Moreover, it will interest you to know that Human Papillomavirus causes virtually all cervical cancer cases.
And EGCG does not only stop cervical cancer, but it also kills cervical cancer cell growth. However, we must clarify that green tea doesn’t have the sole ability to cure cancer, but it is imminent with continuous research.
5 Simple Steps to Brew Your Green Tea
Have you ever drank a grassy or bitter green tea, and you hated green tea because of that? That was because you didn’t brew it well. I often drink green tea, and I can tell you that it is even more flavored and refreshing than coffee.
It all depends on how you brew it. If you do it properly, you will enjoy it (I tell you). Do you want to know how? Here it is:
- Fill your kettle with moderate clean water.
- Put your tea leaves in it.
- Heat it: don’t let the temperate be too high or low, somewhere in the middle; optimal temperature.
- Pour it in a cup; the outlook should be light green if you’ve made it well.
You can add a little milk or sugar (note: a little).
There you have it!
PS: Don’t drink green tea around the bedtime—because it has caffeine—to avoid sleep disorders.
Every year, over 6 million people are diagnosed with cancer, and over 3.5 million die worldwide
This is pretty saddening. Hence, we need to be on our toes and start researching anticancer.
Green tea proves to be the most effective anticancer. Therefore, let’s all try to be drinking it. Meanwhile, it has a very sweet taste that will make you come back for more. While we pray that we don’t get cancer, drinking green tea is a good preventive measure.
The gate of study is open wide: we need more experts to research how we can cure cancer permanently, and if possible, with the green tea.
