According to the 2020 Freelance Writing Landscape Report, an average writer earns $21,000 per annum. Thus making one of the hot 10 lucrative high-paying career paths to consider in 2021.

But then we all should be honest enough to agree that some hardworking writers don’t even make up to $500 per annum. So where is the missing link? That’s the reason for this post.

As a person, I have consulted some top-rated writers. And after connecting the dots from our discussions, I found the reason so many writers cannot make big money.

Yeah, we should first agree that different writers write for different reasons. Some write out of passion, some write for money. And some—like me—write for both.

Whichever class you belong to, making money is not bad - and you should hug the bag. However, there is a common mistake that can make the bag a mere shadow - you can never have it no matter how you chase.

This mistake is deadly, and it has kept so many writers from getting befitting pay. You should avoid this mistake as much as you can, whether you are starting or you have gone far in writing.
